Discussion Post
Post: Candidates will read Chapter 3 in Stader and their assigned Case Scenario. Using Stader, electronic resources/legal information retrieval systems and scholarly sources for their research, candidates will provide a comprehensive post that incorporates a response to the question(s) outlined in the scenario (minimum 300-500 words). The post should (i) analyze the regulatory mandates and case law to respond to the potential legal problem(s), (ii) incorporate scholarly arguments supported by academic resources to support your actions, (iii) include the ways that that case scenario illustrates the controversy over religion in public education and the legal significance for a school, and (iv) identify ethical dilemmas and guidelines.
Scenario: A middle school traditionally allows students to distribute flyers for Halloween parties, Valentines dances, and sports leagues. All was well until 6th grader Allison brought a flyer inviting fellow students to a Christmas party at her church. The party featured snacks, ping-pong, foosball, and Christian fellowship. Allison's invitation resulted in some ‘concern' on the part of teachers. As the principal, what is the best response to Allison's request and support your actions with the appropriate case law/statutes.
The response must include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, double-space, Times New Roman 12 pnt font and APA style of writing and citations.
