State your three issues clearly and briefly explain why each one matters.
Part 2: Apply Conflict Theory to Each Issue
Using conflict theory as your analytical framework, address the following questions for each of your three issues:
- How does this issue reflect unequal power relationships between groups (e.g., by race, class, gender, or political influence)?
- Who benefits from the continuation of this inequality, and who is disadvantaged?
How does the issue illustrate conflict theory's core assumptions:
- society is characterized by competition over scarce resources;
- education can reproduce social stratification;
- dominant groups shape educational policy to protect their interests?
Make sure to use concepts from conflict theory, such as:
- power and domination
- resource inequality
- class privilege
Part 3: Evidence or Verification
For at least ONE of the issues you discuss, provide evidence (a statistic, reputable news source, study finding, or documented example) that supports your claim that this is a major problem in American education.
