According to the readings and videos, incarcerated individuals are still protected under the eighth amendment, which prohibits, cruel and unusual punishments, so I don't believe that these inmates should lose certain freedoms when being incarcerated. According to the text, correctional officers are required to provide food, shelter, and medical care during tough moments. In Estelle v. Gamble (1976), it discusses that denying medical treatment can violate the constitution due to it being a cruel punishment. I believe this right is very important because everyone should have the same amount of healthcare as other's. Without having proper treatment, these inmates may struggle with rehabilitation, the safety of themselves, or success to return to society. Some may also deal with mental illness or substance abuse which would probably require treatment to make sure they are safe and ready to get back on their fee.
