If you havent had enough time or responses what did you

Discussion Question 1

Now that you have a broader understanding of some basic concepts from the world of Physics, create a new hypothetical experiment from your own life experience that helps explain one of the concepts. Think in simple terms, and explain what you expect your experiment to uncover. For your response, provide an alternative experiment to your classmates' post.

Respond to this...If I were to conduct an experiment regarding light's properties and the material we're studying this week, I would introduce a light source to multiple mediums to hopefully cause the light to bend. I could theoretically take a lamp and face it toward water, let's say water from a spray bottle that is sprayed into the air. The light would then be travelling through the air and then through the water - two different mediums. This would cause the light to refract (bend). This refraction would cause the many colors of the previously white light to be exposed and create a rainbow that could be seen by the naked eye.

This experiment may be easier done with a garden hose and sunlight, but my hypothetical experiment would be with the lamp and sprayed water. Hypothetically, this should create the same result - a rainbow. My experiment would be done in an otherwise dark room, without any other interfering sources of light.

Discussion Question 2- Goes with FBM

Let's continue looking at your own social media. For your written assignment, you looked at how people responded to your experiment. For this discussion, write about your response to your experiment, thinking particularly about societal standards, stereotypes, and culture. Do you notice stereotypes now that you didn't before? Do you point out what you do notice? Or do you think these are not issues that should be looked at? Craft a thorough and thoughtful reply, being sure to utilize examples and your own commentary.

If you haven't had enough time or responses, what did you notice about your own page? Comment and discuss using examples.

For your response post, see if you can find a post that you notice something the author didn't or offer a question to help them see something differently. Does your post add to theirs, or lead somewhere different?

Respond to this...When I made my post, I kept my description vague to try to encourage discussion. Instead what happened was that people only answered me and didn't start a discussion. In retrospect, i should have been more descriptive as to what I was trying to do. At the same time, I felt that the people that did respond were complaining about things that were very first world and unimportant issues. There were people complaining about people taking motorcycle parking, judging people at restaurantsaccording to dress. My wife pointed would a good one that is about gender stereotypes where people look at me funny if I take my son to the park. I think the flavor of my responses is mostly do to the complete lack of diversity in my facebook friends list. Admittedly, I didn't have a lot of chance to make a diverse group of friends in small-town Minnesota, which is predominantly white and conservative.
