Then, compare your selection to a modern example from the twentieth or twenty-first century. For instance, if you discuss a mosque from your reading, find an example of a mosque in present-day culture. If you discuss a work of calligraphy, find a present-day example of Islamic calligraphy to discuss. What are the differences and similarities? Be sure to consider the visual traits, the function, and the meaning of the Islamic architectural or design example you select.
