If the three friends pull the object at constant velocity

Three ropes are attached to the same point on a large object.

1. Three ropes are attached to the same point on a large object. Betty pulls one rope with a 100-N force due east, and Veronica pulls the 2nd with a 150-N force 45 degrees north of east. Jughead pulls the 3rd with a 200-N force.

(a) Using graphical methods on the grid below (i.e. draw to scale w/ruler & protractor, indicating on the graph what scale you use), determine:

(i) the angle at which Jughead must pull to make the object move due east, and (ii) the magnitude of the net force on the object.

(b) Solve part (a) analytically using vector components.

(c) If the object is resting on a frictionless surface and has a mass of 100 kg, what acceleration does it experience, and how fast is it moving after 10 m of displacement from its rest position?

(d) Now assume the surface is rough. If the three friends pull the object at constant velocity for 10 m, how much work have they done? What is the coefficient of kinetic friction between the object and the surface?
