A news article reported in 2005 that "Amgen Inc. said it would stop giving an experimental drug for Parkinson's disease to 48 people who received it as part of a trial because tests found it worked no better than a placebo. [. . .] There is no cure for Parkinson's, and the drug had been seen as promising when a preliminary trial found all five patients showed measurable improvement."33 If the null hypothesis is that the drug does not help patients with Parkinson's then the preliminary trial apparently committed which type of error: Type I or Type II?
