If the longitudinal tensile stress in the pipe walls is not

A piece of 10-in.-diameter pipe of 0.10-in. wall thickness was closed off at the ends. This assembly was placed in a testing machine and subjected simultaneously to an axial tensile load P and an internal gage pressure of 240 psi.

If the longitudinal tensile stress in the pipe walls is not to exceed 12,000 psi, calculate the maximum value of the applied load P.
