If a particular radar reciever can detect the target using

The scattering matrix of a target is given by: S = [ 1, 0.25j ; 0.25j, 1+j ].

a) If the received power from the target in the HH polarization is 1uW at a fixed distance, find the power recieved in the VV and HV polarizations.

b) What is the power recieved in the RR, LL and RL polarizations

c) Find the phase difference between the recieved signals at HH and VV and the recieved signals at the RR and LL.

d) Find the polarizations where the co-polarized signal is a maximim and a minimum.

e) Find the transmit polarization and recieve polarization (in terms of ellipticity angle and orientation angle), which yeild the maximum recieved signal power.

f) If the Jones vector of the transmitted signal is given by e = 1/sqrt(2)*[ 1 ; j ], find the Jones vector of the recieved polarization which will yeild no recieved signal.

g) If a particular radar reciever can detect the target using HH polarization at a maximum distance of 10km, find the maximum distance at which the target can be detected using VV polarization. Assume a standard radar equation.
