Problem
A. Identify a broad research area of interest: Start by choosing a general topic of interest that you would like to describe about. For example, if you are interested in environmental communication, you might choose "The effects of message framing on response to environmental communications."
B. Conduct a preliminary literature search: Using online databases, library resources, and other sources, conduct a preliminary search to gather a list of relevant sources related to your research area.
C. Evaluate and select sources: From the sources gathered in the previous step, evaluate each source and select the most relevant, reliable, and up-to-date sources to include in your literature review (3-5 Sources).
D. Read and take notes: carefully read each selected source, taking notes on key points and any relevant information that will be useful in their literature review.
E. Identify gaps in the literature: identify gaps or areas where there is a lack of research on your chosen topic and consider how these gaps can be addressed in future research.
F. Organize and synthesize information: Using the notes you have taken on your 3-5 sources, organize and write the information you have gathered into a coherent and comprehensive paragraph that summarizes and evaluates the existing research on their chosen topic. Be sure to include the citations
G. Develop three possible research paper topics: Based on your notes and the gaps in the literature, identify three possible research paper topics that build on the existing research and address the identified gaps in the literature and rate them from best to worst.
