The United States has one of the most advanced systems of safeguarding the food supply. Safeguarding the food supply requires effective legislative protections and enforcement actions as mandated by the federal government. Legislative safeguards also protect the public by enacting rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines that help manage waste products. Without such protections, humankind would be exposed to many disease-causing factors.
Using the readings for this module and the Argosy University online library resources, respond to the following:
• Identify three acts or amendments in the United States that regulate food safety measures.
• Describe the purpose of these acts/amendments. Include the areas in which they are applied, namely, the types of foods or the components of food supply.
• Examine and describe the advantages of each of the following four methods of waste management:
o Landfills
o Composting
o Recycling
o Incineration
