This assignment will support your efforts in researching two major loss-of-life fires from two case studies and identify major Causes, concerns, and deficiencies that occurred during both incidents.
This information will help you identify major causes of loss-of-life fires, as well as demonstrated behavior of those affected during the incident. This will highlight the importance of human intervention in changing how people respond to fire.
Research articles that pertain to the following two large-loss-of-life incidents:
Ghost Ship fire tragedy in Oakland, California, which occurred on December 2, 2016; and
Station Nightclub fire that occurred in West Warwick, Rhode Island, on February 20, 2003.
There are various websites, such as the National Fire Protection Association and U.S. Fire Administration, that offer resources on fire incidents. Also, check the Waldorf Online Library databases to see what resources are available from the university.
In a two-page response, compare and contrast the similarities of the Ghost Ship fire and the Station Nightclub fire.
Identify the underlying issues of the structures, capabilities, egress, etc. Discuss how panic affected a response to exiting during the fire event.
In your conclusion, determine what you feel are the similarities of these two fires that led to these large loss-of-life incidents.
Identify the common theme with major problems leading to the large loss of life and human reaction to smoke and fire conditions.
