In this Discussion, you choose a population or culture that is different from your own and analyze what special considerations need to be made in a situation of family violence. You examine individual needs of different populations and consider ways in which you can contribute to positive social change by being mindful of individual differences.
To prepare for this Discussion:
Read the Learning Resources pertaining to abuse issues in different populations. Choose one special population from the following to address:
o Victims with disabilities
o Victims with HIV/AIDS
o LGBTQ populations
o Military or police families
o Immigrant families
o Patriarchal cultures
o Religious groups
o Other (a different topic selected with Instructor approval)
Post a response to the following:
Identify the special population that you selected. Within your chosen special population, what specific considerations need to be made with respect to family violence? How can you, as a forensic psychology professional, address those needs and maintain respect within the culture? How might your work with these special populations contribute to positive social change? Support your response with appropriate scholarly research.
The response should include a reference list. Using double-space, Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
