Generate a training aid to assist health care professionals in providing optimal care for Islam religious population. The purpose of this assignment is for you to demonstrate your awareness of religious differences, your understanding of how belief systems can create disparities in health care and challenges for health care providers, as well as your understanding of culturally competent strategies for addressing those disparities and challenges.
I. Describe the type of facility for which this training aid is designed and identify your audience within that facility; for example, front desk administrators in a Level One ER or Rad techs in a small urgent care facility.
II. Identify the religion or belief system that will be the focus of this training aid.
III. Identify the religion/belief's significant symbols and institutions and explain their importance to its members.
IV. Identify its primary rituals, beliefs, and practices and explain their importance to its members.
i. Identify specific ways in which these religious elements might create disparities in care for patients and explain why.
ii. Identify specific ways in which these religious elements might create challenges for providers and explain why.
iii. Identify specific culturally competent strategies that can be used to overcome each of the disparities and challenges and explain how they contribute to better care and outcomes.
V. Provide at least two professional resources that could be used by health care providers to learn more about this religion/belief system and how to become more culturally competent when treating patients who belong to it. Briefly describe why each resource would be helpful.
