Identify the most important points for that period in time

Assignment

Part One Prompt

We should discuss the American Presidency this week. You have now read about several American Presidents as we reach Andrew Jackson and the Age of the Common Man. For Thursday, think about what makes a "good" President from the examples you have seen this semester? What makes a "poor or weak" President? We shall not all agree but we will listen to one another.

Your opinion as to what makes a "good or strong" and "weak or poor" President. Explain it. Be specific.

Your lectures and reading are loaded with Presidential history. Pick three different presidents and identify a decision or action for each one that you support or believe was good or right. You may only use the Presidents discussed in your assigned readings up to an including this week and lecture segments. Read the previous sentence again!

Then, pick three presidents again (can be the same as the ones chosen above), and identify one action or decision for each one that you do not support or think was wrong. You may only use the Presidents discussed in your assigned readings up to an including this week and lecture segments. Read the previous sentence again!

Then, come to the present. Identify and explain two Presidential actions or decisions from your current president that you support or consider right and two, Presidential decisions or actions examples that you do not support or consider wrong. .

For all of these, be sure to explain WHY!! What is behind your thinking and reasoning (hopefully, there is some historical evidence). Be sure to write in complete sentences and paragraphs for this assignment. And BE SPECIFIC in your examples and evidence!

Then, identify and explain for us the lasting lessons that still apply to America today! In other words, is Washington's message still valid and pertinent to American politics today? Be specific in your analysis. Start your response to this prompts with a thesis statement and use multiple quotes from the primary source to back up your claims and analysis. The only sources you may use are the textbook, my lecture, and the actual primary source.
