Persuasive Sales Letter Rewrite Instructions

It is an actual sales letter sent out by a small local company. Your job is to rewrite and reformat the letter to make it a much stronger letter! Follow the AIDA formula for sales messages to persuade the reader. You can add or take out information to create the perfect letter!

How should you start this assignment?

1. Read the letter and find out exactly what the sender's goal is for the letter. In other words, what does she want the reader to do when they finish the letter?

2. Identify the most important parts of the original letter.

3. Rewrite the letter using AIDA formula for sales messages (attention, interest, desire, and action). This will be a harder job - you will need to be creative and think about the goals of the letter and the way to persuade the reader. You also may want to research the company online to get more ideas for persuasion. Think about the benefits to the reader and use those to persuade.

4. For the actual format of the letter choose the Block or Modified Block letter format (see Appendix in the book for examples). Create a letterhead, and then follow the correct format for a letter. Remember there needs to be at least 3 paragraphs.

5. Use current dates within the letter.

6. Write and sign the letter with you as the owner.
