Identify the function of your chosen agency

Discussion Post

The doctrine of separation of powers is integral to America's system of governance. To this end, many have pointed to the growth of the federal bureaucracy as a direct affront to this constitutional provision, as agencies in the bureaucracy make and execute laws, as well as issue rulings in the same way that the three branches of government do within their respective spheres of influence. To this end, the federal bureaucracy has been deemed an unaccountable, fourth branch of government. With this in mind,

a) Select one of the bureaucratic agencies (cabinet departments or independent agency/regulatory boards and commissions) from Official US Executive Branch Web Sites.

b) Next, identify the function of your chosen agency. Does it function include executive, legislative, or judicial powers.

c) Finally, make an assessment of your selected agency: Does its function violate the doctrine of the separation of powers. Why or why not?

The response must include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, double-space, Times New Roman 12 pnt font and APA style of writing and citations.
