Identify the developmental age group that can be affected

Discussion: Cyber Interaction and Civility

Have you ever taken five minutes to check email and realize two hours later that you have been sitting on the computer reading websites or social media? This is not unusual these days for just about anyone. In getting ready for this Discussion, you kept a record of your interactions with digital technology and communications in order to measure the amount of time you spend in "cyberspace." It is likely that the more time you have spent using digital technology, you have seen increased incidents of violations of cyber civility.

For this Discussion, you use the Tracking Template from this week's Learning Resources where you collected your interactions with digital technology. Based on the interactions you collected, in this Discussion you consider the digital technologies in which you have interacted, along with how much interaction you have had. You also reflect on incidents of cyber civility.

To Prepare for this Discussion:

• Consider the different types of digital technologies as well as communication technologies and the amount of interaction you have with these technologies

• Review this week's Learning Resources related to Cyber Civility and behaviors

• Reflect on incidents of cyber civility you have witnessed during your interactions while using digital technology

• Review the Tracking Template from this week's Learning Resources and use it for this Discussion

• Over a 24-hour period, use the Tracking Template to keep track of the digital technology and communication technologies you used and the amount of time you spent using them. Note: You will not be submitting your completed template.

Post a summary of your interactions with digital and communication technologies, based on the data from your Tracking template. What surprised you about your interactions? Give an example of when you have witnessed a violation of cyber civility taking place.

The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.

ASSIGNMENT: Mitigation Plan

Part 1

In 2015, the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) reported nearly 300,000 complaints of fraud, identity theft, cyber-bullying, harassment, and extortion, among others (Internet Crime Complaint Center, 2015). This is a startling number, especially considering that the IC3 only handles incidents from digital technology. The list of potential topics for mitigation is extensive.

This week, you will develop Part 1 of your Final Project: Mitigation Plan by selecting a topic for mitigation and find at least two scholarly articles related to your topic. You will determine a developmental age group and any relevant diversity factors.

Part 1 Assignment:

• Select a topic for mitigation. Possible topics include (but are not limited to):

o Cyberbullying
o Obesity
o Identify theft/Phishing
o Digital divide
o Trolling/Baiting/Flaming
o Cyber victimization
o Physical or developmental disability limitations

• Identify the developmental age group that can be affected by the topic you chose

• Identify any diversity factors (e.g., gender, socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation) relevant to the topic and developmental age you will be discussing

• Search the Internet and the Walden Library for at least two scholarly articles related to the topic you chose for mitigation

For this Mitigation Plan, Part 1 Assignment:

Write a 1-page paper (not including references) in which you:

• Describe the topic you selected for mitigation and explain why you selected this topic

• Define the problem relative to a particular developmental age group, culture, and/or gender and explain why you selected this this group and how the digital technology you chose relates to the problem

• Explain briefly the developmental and psychological risks associated with failure to address the problem

Use your Learning Resources and the articles you found in your search to support your findings. Use proper APA format and citations.

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

3. Also Include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
