Reflective Essay - Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies
For this assignment, you must read the Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies PDF. Then you must write a reflective essay in which you share your reactions and thoughts about the ideas in the document. Your essay must meet the following requirements:
1. Your essay must be a minimum of 1000 words and must answer the following questions, writing at least one paragraph for each of these questions: Do you think it is important to have these kind of standards for addiction counselors? Why or why not?
2. Which of these standards gave you new ideas to think about? (Pick three or four items and describe why you think they might be helpful to you as you prepare to become a counselor.)
3. Identify the areas of Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies in which you think you need to grow the most. Describe why these are "weak" areas for you and what you think you can do to become more competent.
4. Do you strongly disagree with any of the standards or think that they are unnecessary skills for counselors to have? Explain your reasons.
5. You must include two or more citations with the appropriate reference, both written in correct APA style. The citations and references must include both your textbook and the Multicultural Competencies article.
6. You must include details and examples from your own life and experience to support your opinions.
