Identify specific types of nonverbal behavior the people use

Problem

i. Nonverbal behaviors are ambiguous and understood culturally. Either (a) Describe a story where your nonverbal behaviors violated a cultural custom. Or, (b) identify three nonverbal behaviors customary/accepted where you live, and how these could violate a custom in another region of the U.S. or internationally. If you are using the second option, please read through the discussion board first so that examples do not overlap.

ii. If you were going for a job interview tomorrow, which nonverbal behaviors would you be most aware of? Discuss why each of these behaviors is significant to be aware of. How would this change if you were interviewing in another culture (you may pick one in the article)? What three nonverbals would you have to keep in mind and why? Refer to the article for ideas. Interviewing in across cultures.

iii. Find a place to observe people for 30 minutes. Identify four specific types of nonverbal behavior the people used (i.e. body movement, chronemics, gestures, eye contact, etc.) In addition identify three functions that the nonverbal served (i.e. repeating, substituting, complementing). From your observations, how did nonverbal behavior influence your perception of those people and the conclusions you drew about them?
