Modern Leadership Styles and Culture

Modern leadership styles include charismatic, transformational, servant, and ethical leadership. While it is important to note the distinctions between the styles, the similarities and overlaps are extensive. Each style does have its own tenets and traits, but upon a thorough review of the modern leadership literature, it is apparent that much overlap exists between them. For instance, transformational leaders ascribe to a high moral code, which means they conduct themselves and lead their organizations in an ethical manner, the key tenet of ethical leadership. Additionally, transformational leaders tend to be very charismatic. How each style and its traits affect organizational culture is explored this week.
Specifically, you will explore the issues related to minorities (based on gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientation) and the well-documented glass ceiling that has plagued and continues to affect certain populations. It is no secret that Caucasian men fill the majority of leadership positions, particularly in business; and while women have made advances in this arena, they and other minority groups still struggle to be recognized as leaders in their fields.

Identify at least four (4) minority leaders (in any industry) that exhibit traits from each modern leadership style. First, construct a matrix (chart) that lists each of the leaders on the y-axis and the four (4) modern leadership styles across the x-axis. Provide concrete, evidence-based examples (found in press releases, news articles, websites, etc.) of traits from these leadership styles for each leader and add them to the matrix. Add this matrix to your paper following the introduction section.

From there, elaborate on the findings of this discovery exercise in the context of defending the need for diversity in organizational leadership, factoring in organizational culture, ethics, and leading diverse workforces. Be sure to touch on the struggles minorities have faced in securing leadership roles in organizations despite the modern leadership styles evidenced in current minority leaders.
Support your paper with minimum of four scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.
