Music Appreciation – Review of Sonata for Two Violins, Op. 56, Quartet for English Horn, Violin, Viola and Cello, String Quartet No. 9 in C major, Op. 59, No. 3 “Rasumovsky”
Listen to the compositions below and write an essay for each work of music in each of these 3 pieces of music.

Ludwig van BEETHOVEN – String Quartet No. 9 in C major, Op. 59, No. 3 “Rasumovsky”
Answer and discuss these:
a. Your essay should include discussion of topics from chapter one, especially pages 1-24 (melody, harmony, rhythm, form texture, timbre, intensity, performing media, etc.). I will upload a chapter one review.
b. Determine the genre or genres (ballet, oratorio, opera, musical, dance suite, world music, etc.) that you heard and include basic information about them in your paper.
c. Research should be done to identify appropriate musical periods for each piece of music and the characteristics that help you to identify the music with that particular style period (imitative polyphony – Renaissance vocal music).
d. The composer and/or arranger of each piece should be researched to include a concise biography, overview of their total output and date of the music being discussed.
e. The final section of your paper will be a reflection of how you and other listeners can appreciate the music you have heard.
