Problem
Ileana Gonzalez is a 39 year-old, G3P2A1L1 at 40 weeks gestation admitted in the latent phase of labor at the birth center. Her prenatal course has been uneventful. Ileana started her prenatal care at 8 weeks pregnancy. She is 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighed 160 pounds pre-pregnancy. She gained 40 pounds with this pregnancy. Her labs are blood type O negative, Hepatitis B negative, Group Beta Strep negative, Rubella immune. She is negative for sexually transmitted infections.
Ileana speaks Spanish as her first language and is able to speak and understand some English. Ileana states she is Catholic. Her husband and sister accompany her in labor. Ileana has a daughter who is 3 years old. The ultrasound done two months ago indicated she is having a baby boy.
She is currently in good spirits and handling her contractions very well. Ileana has been in latent labor for 2 hours. She is 3 cm, 50% effaced, -2 station, vertex.
