An effective exercise in writing scenarios is to develop newspaper headlines describing key events or trends that take place during the course of the scenario. For example a headline could be, "6th hurricane in 21 days hits Gulf Coast." Such a headline could come from the forecasts for more extreme weather events, including hurricanes, as Earth's climate becomes warmer.
