Choose one of the following questions for your analysis of case study.
1) Consider two powerful industries, so-called Big Pharma and Big Tobacco. The former can save lives; the latter is accused of taking them. Yet, there are some disturbing similarities between these industries. Identify and discuss these commonalities and their causes. In light of your response, what recommendations do you have for leaders of pharmaceutical companies?
2) Beyond penalizing Martin Shkreli and other corporate leaders like Andy Fastow and Jeff Skilling (Enron) for their illicit actions, how can ethical leadership be encouraged in large corporations?
Option II: Case Study 2: "Philanthrocapitalism: Billionaires Give Back, Their Way."
Question for discussion for this case study: By letting philanthrocapitalists use their resources toward solving socioeconomic problems around the globe, are governments effectively "outsourcing" their responsibilities? (Mention the Gates Foundation and polio as one example here. Of course, a person can pick examples, pro and con, to fit whatever position one is advocating, but how would this example fit into the discussion?)
