You have just been offered a position with a major health organization-HSA "A." You ask them for a week to consider it to which they agree. In the meantime, you are in touch with another, bigger and better, health care organization, HSA "B" where you had also interviewed. The vice president making the decision at "B" is out of the office and not expected to return for three more days. You call "A" and ask for more time. They say "no" they really need to know by the end of the week. It becomes clear that you will not hear soon enough from "B."
