Assignment: Ethics Essay
Write an essay on a potential ethical dilemma for a speech language pathologist or audiologist. Students will study the ASHA Code of Ethics and consider this code in identifying a potential ethical dilemma. Then students will further explore this dilemma in the paper. This assignment is a "spin-off" of ASHA's Essay Contest. STUDENTS DO NOT HAVE TO SUBMIT THE ESSAY TO THE ASHA CONTEST, but each student is required to submit the essay for the course final assignment.
In this essay, the student should:
I. Identify a potential ethical challenge or dilemma for an SLP or AuD.
II. Identify which principle in the ASHA Code of Ethics that may be violated.
III. Provide a rationale for the student's choice.
IV. Identify how the violation may have been prevented or avoided.
Format your assignment according to the give formatting requirements:
1. The answer must be double spaced, typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the course title, the student's name, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
