Identifies the anthropological methods and needs-assessment

Final Research Project : Applied Anthropology WikiProject

Your Final Research Project is a summative one and includes all parts you have put together in Weeks One to Four plus the additional materials you will develop this week.

It is an exercise in applying research-supported critical arguments and advocacy skills on the selected problem or topic. You can use your Final Research Project as a portfolio to show potential employers.

This week, you will finalize your WikiProject, including incorporating your instructor's feedback on your assignments from Weeks One to Four. You will also practice reviewing and constructively commenting on the research of other anthropologists.

As we have discussed throughout this course, doing applied anthropology requires collaboration and input from multiple stakeholders. The commentaries you will complete this week will give you an opportunity to see how other anthropologists might approach an applied project and to compare their approaches to your own.

For your Final Research Project, complete the following steps:

Step 1: Finalize wikispace

1. Make final edits and revisions to your wikispace, including any instructor feedback. Be sure your wikispace includes:

a. Content from the Week One written assignment describing the scope of the problem or topic.

b. Content from the Week Two written assignment explaining the methods and needs-assessment techniques.

c. Content from the Week Three written assignment explaining the ways an anthropologist can be an activist for the problem or topic and your action plan.

d. Content from the Week Three written assignment sharing previous research that you used to identify gaps you might fill with the content of your Final Research Project.

e. Content from the Week Four written assignment: Videos, photographs, and links to websites related to the problem or topic with descriptions of how they are related.

f. Properly cited in-text and full reference citations in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

2. Capture the URL to your wikispace and insert it into a Word document.

Step 2: Produce commentary

1. Visit the discussion forum, Your Final Research Project, and review several of your classmates' wikispace content.

2. Select two classmates' wikispaces and, for each, write a commentary that:

a. Summarizes the issue being researched.

b. Identifies the anthropological methods and needs-assessment strategies in the wikispace and compares and contrasts them with the ones you identified in your project.

c. Identifies two sources that would be useful to further develop the research project for each wikispace. Provide a one-paragraph rationale as to why you think each source would be helpful.

At least one of the sources should be a scholarly source, that is, an article in a peer-reviewed journal available through Ashford University Library, a book, or an eBook.

The other source(s) may be a scholarly or credible website, that is, only one that appears to have factual information and is generated by a nongovernment organization (N.G.O.), a government website, or a reputable news source.

d. Concludes with a brief discussion of the usefulness of the applied anthropological approach in addressing the problem or topic of the wikispace.

3. Write at least 750 words (about three double-spaced pages) for each commentary and include in-text and full reference citations, formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

4. Post the commentary on your wikispace and include a link to the wikispace that you are commenting on.

5. Copy and paste the content of both commentaries (including references) into a Word document and include the links to the wikispaces you have commented on.

Step 3: Submission

1. Include a title page and format the content of your Word document according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

2. Submit a Word document with the link to your own wikispace, the links to two of your classmates' wikispaces, and the content of your commentaries.
