Identified what that goal looks like and has figured out

I have heard of strategic planning for a career that is divided into steps for success. This plan starts at the current job or entry job desired, then states desired salary, how long to be in that job and when to start looking for the next job.

The next step is the type of second job they want, the salary, how long to stay in that job and when to start looking for the next job. The plan goes on like this until they have reached their ultimate goal and desired salary. This keeps a person moving forward and not stuck in one job too long.

In the end the person has identified the steps needed to obtain their final goal, identified what that goal looks like and has figured out approximately how long it will take to achieve that goal and how much money they can make.

What do you think of this type of plan?
