I would like you to focus on a project that deals with

For this discussion board assignment, you will be working with a new group of your classmates to get some practice in developing some select parts of a project plan. In order to keep it straightforward, I would like you to focus on a project that deals with planning an event. This will allow every member of your group an opportunity to participate because of their familiarity with what the project entails. Your group's first task is to decide which event you will tackle preparing a project plan for:

  • A Thanksgiving dinner
  • A wedding
  • A 20 year high school class reunion
  • A music concert
  • A child's birthday party
  • An art exhibit opening
  • A garden show

Next, take your chosen event and flesh out the following aspects of a project plan:

  • Project Title
  • Brief Project Description
  • List of stakeholders and their roles
  • Objectives (3-5 that apply the SMART criteria)
  • Project Scope, which identifies the limits of the project and defines the deliverables. Also, be sure to list any requirements that are specifically excluded from the scope.
  • Assumptions (a list of 2-3)
  • Constraints (a list of 2-3)
  • Procurement Plan (a list of the resources and materials needed for your event, including jobs that may warrant contracting out to an external source. There is no need to include the actual cost estimates)

Your group can decide to make your project as simple or as complex as you like. Just be sure that you don't miss any of the "essentials" of the event (i.e. what is a wedding without a cake or a child's birthday party without games?) and that you think it through, visualizing all of the different levels of preparation that your event may have when constructing the scope and objectives.
