I looked through your article referenced "The Most Important Aspects of the Affordable Care Act." I thought the piece about the pre-existing conditions was interesting. THe areticle states "Before the Affordable Care Act, a health insurance company could charge more or deny coverage if you had a pre-existing health condition."

(healthline.com, 2017) While this is a great benefit and one that should make it through Trump's changes to the ACA, it does not address the cost associated with obtaining the insurance.

There is claim of subsidies etc to make the cost more manageable. It does not address the familes that would be charged up to $2000.00 for this coverage which most agree, is not stellar coverage. So, while this feature helps someone with say, type 1 diabetes, it does not help the person with hypertension. THe diabetic knows that they have to have treatment or they will die fairly quickly. THey will probably do anything in their power to pay for their medical care even if it requires a substantial change in lifestyle.

THe person with hypertension may decide that they will save themselves the 24k per year and either pay out of pocket to see a physician and pay cask for medication or more likely, they will not treat their hypertension because there is not an immediate risk in delaying treatment. So, while this is a great feature, clearly more still needs to be done to make it more affordable and more enticing for individuals to pay into it.
