I am still having an issue with finding the gap quade

I watched a great video that helped to explain the rubric of the dissertation, which I know we are not to yet, but in looking at the end product, it gave me guidance for the proposal and the significance of Chapter 1 (Quade, 2017). Since I did not go to any of the residencies, I felt like this was a residency that came to me. Also, Dr. Quade is pretty entertaining.

I am still having an issue with finding the gap. Quade states that finding that gap is like circling the wagons, the gap comes from reading my articles and identifying the method, design, population in the study, the findings, and the recommendations for future research. The findings that the future research are what lead to the problem statement.

I think what is being said is that the "gap" or "need" from previous research is basically the problem statement and the problem statement is used to further the research, which identifies the purpose of the study. However, having said that, I am still not sure how to align all of these components with what I want to study.

I found a gap from an article that identifies a need for future research regarding millennials pursing MBAs, but I have no idea why this is a problem and how it will advance the research.
