I am having trouble with the book called political economy

I am having trouble with the book called Political Economy "A Comparative Approach" by Barry Clark. I read through chapters 1-7, but it's pretty much very confusing. From what I understand is that it talks about liberals, classical liberals, radicals and conservatives. I understand what each of those go against and side for. I also have a good understanding of all the economists that was mentioned in the book such as Adam Smith and Thomas Malthus. But is there any important information that I have left out? I really want to have a better understanding of those chapters because I have a midterm soon.
