Health Science Research Project Assessment - Research Proposal

PROJECT TITLE - An analysis of sleep quality of Indian migrants living in Perth

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT (ABSTRACT) - Summarise what you are going to do and how you are going to do it (maximum of 400 words). The description needs to be able to be understood by a person not familiar with your specific area of study.

PROJECT PURPOSE - BACKGROUND LITERATURE IDENTIFIES THE GAP - This section outlines the project rationale or the key reasons for undertaking the project which is supported by the current evidence in the literature and the gap in the literature. (maximum of 500 words).

PROJECT AIM & OBJECTIVES - RESEARCH QUESTIONS AND HYPOTHESES (where applicable) - State the overall aim of the study. List the objectives of the project which are the specific details about what you hope to achieve such as an observable change in knowledge or behaviour (3-4 at most). State the specific research question(s) and associated hypotheses (if applicable) that will be tested.

RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS (PROJECT TARGET GROUP) - Who will be recruited to participate in this study, including the number of participants required and any inclusion or exclusion criteria. Your description should provide enough detail such that the reader could recruit the same group of participants. The descriptive information may include for example, age, gender, occupation (maximum of 300 words)

EXPECTED BENEFITS OF RESEARCH (SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY) - What expected benefits (if any) will this research have for the wider community? (maximum of 200 words)

PROJECT METHODOLOGY - Detail the method and procedures that will be used to undertake the project, i.e., how will you collect and analyse the data including any statistical techniques that will be used. Your detailed description should allow the reader to replicate the collection and analysis of your data. (maximum of 1000 words).

PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN -

RISK RATING - Identify the level of risk that your research project may involve to the participants and any other risks associated with the research project, e.g. risks to the researchers or risks to the institution. Complete a risk assessment and identify strategies that will be used to mitigate risk. (maximum of 200 words)

TIMELINE - Present the various stages and tasks for the proposed project together with a detailed timeline using a Gantt Chart. Please remember to allow a minimum of 6 weeks for ethics approval (if required) and remember that no data can be collected until ethics is obtained. Data collection will typically occur during HST6107.

DRAFT BUDGET PLAN FOR PROJECT - In this section you are required to provide details for the proposed costs whether actual or in-kind (hidden) such as time of all researchers. Add specific detail to each row e.g., what staff will be required (use position description only, no names), salaries and hours required, and insert additional rows as required.
