Health Promotion Planning & Evaluation
Using your classmate's discussion of a health issue, create a program rationale using Figure (attached) from the textbook as the basis.
Your rationale should include the title, description of the health concern and its effects on the specified priority population (including supporting data from at least one scholarly source), a brief description of the proposed program, and a justification for why the program would be effective.
Use a minimum of one scholarly source for each response, formatted according to APA style as outlined by the Ashford Writing Center.
Sonja Discussion The most pressing health concern in the US currently is childhood obesity.
In the United States between 2011 and 2014, "the prevalence of obesity was 8.9% among 2- to 5 years olds compared with 17.5% of 6- to 11- year-olds and 20.5% of 12- to 19- year-olds."(CDC) In order to combat this issue, children should be encouraged to go outside and play for at least 60 minutes a day.
Also, restricting screen time, so that children are not stationary for long periods of time. "Children with obesity are at higher risk for having other chronic health conditions and diseases such as asthma, sleep apnea, bone and joint problems, and type 2 diabetes."(CDC) A program that I would suggest to help prevent, and or manage this health concern among children would be to partner with NFL play 60, this allows for children to get out and be active with role models from their NFL sports team, also, offered is Fuel up to Play. I think this program would work, because of the success the program has had over the past ten years.
