The modern IT department must be well-informed about new technologies, constantly examining and assessing them for a potential role in the organization. Sometimes new technologies are desired by users and other stakeholders, but are an imperfect fit in the organization, either because they clash with existing systems, or because they subvert organizational processes that have worked well in the past.
Task
In your main post for this Discussion Board assignment, consider the impact of recent technologies on IT departments. The department can be one that you worked for, been a customer of, or read about in your learning activities. Select one of the technologies listed below for this discussion:

In your main post, assess how your selected technology might impact a modern or future IT department. Explain why the impact might happen, how disruptive it might be (and why), and discuss what could be done to prevent or limit disruption.
In your initial post, and when replying to another student, consider how IT departments might have adapted to recent and earlier technologies, such as WiFi, mobile devices, and cloud computing. Do earlier adoptions offer insights as to how this will go with new technologies? What makes you optimistic or pessimistic about a successful case of technology adoption?
