Assignment:
For this assignment, you will interview one teacher who is currently teaching in an elementary school. The purpose for the interview is to learn about the strategies and techniques used by this teacher to set up the classroom for success. After you interview the teacher, you will write a reflective paper in which you share some of the information that you gathered in the interview. You will also analyze the information using research based literature to support your learning from the interviews. For the analysis, you will cite at least three references.
In your reflective paper, you will include the following:
- Introduction
- Summary of the interview
- Analysis - Remember to support with 3 references (One reference may be the course textbook and the other two should be journal articles)
- Reflection and conclusion
NOTE: For this assignment you may choose to prepare a PowerPoint presentation or another presentation application rather than a formal Word document. If you are unsure about the acceptability of a particular application, please email your instructor for confirmation. If you decide to do a PowerPoint presentation or another application, here is a rough estimate of the number of slides/pages:
- Title and author information (1 slide)
- Introduction (1-2 slides)
- Summary of the interview (probably 3-4 slides)
- Analysis - (probably 4-5 slides)
- Reflection and conclusion (1-2 slides)
- Reference list (1-2 slides, depending on the number of references)
You can use these guided questions for your interview (or any other questions you deem appropriate):
1. How do you enhance your students' cognitive and affective development through appropriate learning strategies in literacy in the elementary classroom? Need Assignment Help?
2. What reading methodologies, strategies, techniques, and materials have you used in your exemplary reading lessons?
3. Do the students participate interactively? How?
4. How do you plan culturally relevant literacy instruction for all the students including ESE and the ESOL students?
5. How do you communicate effectively with elementary students and their families in a positive, supportive manner?
