How writing media release differ from newspaper writing

Assignment task: Use the ECPI Online Library or the Internet to research one article within the last 5 years from any newspaper or magazine that describes the events of a shooting incident at a school or workplace. Assume that the information is accurate. Then, imagine that the incident happened two hours ago, and you are the PIO charged with writing a formal Media Release about the incident. (This will require you to use your imagination). You must only include information that was known immediately.

For example, if the suspect fled and was caught a week later, that would not be in this release addressing the incident as it just occurred. If the suspect fled and was caught a week later, in your "immediate" release, you would state something like this: "The suspect fled on foot and all officers in the DC Metropolitan area are currently engaging in a house-to-house search in efforts to locate him.")

Requirements

You must use the Inverted Pyramid (style of writing) to write Internet media release. This is critical when writing a media release and is the major way that writing a media release differs from writing a newspaper or other article.

Cite your source using APA.

Be sure you do not use an "advertisement" as a source for your assignment. Typically, websites that are trying to sell you a product are not credible sources of information.
