Imagine you are immigrating to the United States. Use your actual racial/ethnic identity for this project. Where are you coming from? What would you be leaving behind (i.e. why do you think your ancestors were leaving their places of origin to come here)? How do you think you would take in and process going through immigration services like the people did on Ellis Island? How would you support yourself and a possible family here? Remember that if you are female that you would most likely not be educated or expected to do too much work outside of the home, and if you did, it would still be some sort of domesticated work.
If you are mixed descent, you may choose one background if it is easier for you to do. If you are only Native American, choose an immigration trail from another country to follow.
