Assignment task: The problem within the organization:
Ceva Logistics was not able to communicate between various departments within the organization, which prevented the organization from carrying on with its daily operations and realizing its full potential. Due to this approach, there were some inefficiencies and mismatches in the decision-making at different levels of the organization, thus creating duplication that was affecting the organization's bottom line. Further, the issue has resulted in the company's inability to work effectively and make plans. Overall, this issue prevented the company from making further dealings with international firms, and clients were not happy with the service they received during this period.
Stakeholders Involved:
As the issue was directly related to the top management. So, the company's managers and directors are considered stakeholders in this project. They are the ones who draught policies and plan their subsequent implementation within the organization and from the outside.
The organization made requirement analysis a severe issue to analyze the needs within different departments, and the human resources department also plays an important role in making decisions related to issues within the organization.
Analysis Of Need Levels:
Considering the above issue, the company should perform an organizational analysis first. Because the lack of expertise within the decision-making process and cooperation among different departments pushed the organization backward, it had to rethink better ways to accommodate various areas where it failed to achieve desired goals. Moreover, company policies were not followed, and some of the legal attributes and the departments involved in decision-making could not change their operational plans. Now, after understanding the need to make good decisions and frame policies, the organization focused on the training and development program for the top-level management, considering that expertise, knowledge, and skills are required to frame such training. As top-level management mainly consists of stakeholders with a larger share in the company's operations,
Methods Used in Collecting Information
The company was facing issues within the different levels of management and departments. To collect more relevant and accurate information, I would prefer to use the following methods:
OBSERVATION:
Because the issue addressed with the Ceva logistics requires attention at various levels, the areas where the departments need to make additional considerations while contacting each other can only be determined by closely observing the departments' activities and working methods.
Questionnaire:
Questionnaires are another effective method of collecting reliable information in a quick time because they reach more employees in less time and are inexpensive in comparison to others. However, given the issue with the Ceva logistics management questionnaire, it will be structured by the organizational level within which these are to be circulated.
Available Resources:
People, time, and money are the three resources that will be required to carry out this needs assessment. People are required to carry out interviews, focus groups, and surveys. Focus groups and interviews will take time (to compensate the participants in the discussions, focus groups, and surveys).
