Choose one of the following questions. Write a thoughtful, well-considered essay that addresses the question you've chosen. The essay should be no shorter than 500 words, but no longer than about 750. In any case, it should be complete, reasonably free from errors, clearly organized, and well thought out.
• How would you expect Deal and Kennedy's (1982) elements of culture to be expressed in a company whose managerial style was characterized by a classical management approach to organizational structure, processes, and design? In other words, discuss the five elements of culture identified by Deal and Kennedy by attempting to envision how the principles of classical management would be enacted in organizational culture.
• How would a classical management-style organization have to change in order to apply a different management perspective? Imagine that you have been hired by the Kabalaz Leather Company as a consultant to update its managerial practices. For years, this medium-sized manufacturer of leather bags, belts, wallets, and other leather wares has operated according to the principles of classical management. Choose one of the alternative schools of thought to classical management (human behavior, integrated perspectives, or postmodern, critical, or feminist perspectives) and outline how Kabalaz will have to change in order to conform to the new perspective you're recommending. Using at least two specific theories within the school of thought you've selected, identify specific changes you would recommend.
