Job Choice Scenario

Imagine that you have completed your Excelsior College degree, have conducted a job search and are now being offered two jobs (Job A and Job B)that mirror the one you have always wanted (perhaps it is the one chose to research in module5!) Each job is equally attractive, but you must choose one:

Job A is one of the jobs you always wanted. The company is offering a higher salary than you are currently making; $15,000 more in salary per year. There is room for advancement. The building you will be working in is brand new. You will have your own office with a window, and will be given an excellent benefit package that includes full medical and dental, and vision. However, there are no educational benefits offered. You met your potential boss and she seems to be nice person who has in depth knowledge of the work you will be doing. You will most likely need to relocate as the job is 360 miles (6 hour car ride) north of where you currently reside.

Job B is also one of the jobs you always wanted. It offers higher salary than what you are currently making, $4,500 more in salary per year. There is room for advancement. You will have your own office once they complete the construction on their new space, probably within 6-8 months. Until then, you will have a large office cubicle with a window. You have a good friend that works for the organization in a different capacity, and likes it very much. You have met your potential boss and he seems very nice and has expertise in the field. Job B offers a very good benefit package that includes full medical, and partial dental, and education benefits, which includes 50 % reimbursement for tuition for you or your spouse. The job is located 25 miles (30 minute car ride) from where you reside.
