This assignment can be done in groups of 2 - 4 people. Read the Solar Heated Jacket Design for Six Sigma Case Study. Ignore the discussion questions in the case study and instead answer the following questions for each section:
Identify Phase
a. A problem statement should include a view of what is going on in the business and when it is occurring. The project statement should provide data to quantify the problem. Does the problem statement in the case study provide a clear picture of the business problem? Rewrite the problem statement to improve it.
b. The goal statement should describe the project team's objective and be quantifiable, if possible. Rewrite the goal statement to improve it.
Define Phase
a. How were customer requirements captured and quantified?
b. How were specifications set?
Design Phase
a. How were the design concepts generated?
Optimize Phase
a. How would you define the design of experiment design to use?
b. How would you determine which factors and levels were significant to your design?
c. How would you determine the appropriate number of replications for your experiment?
Validate Phase
a. List five potential failure modes for the Solar Heated Jacket.
Conclusions
a. How did DFSS improve the development of the Solar Heated Jacket?
Include an Executive Summary at the beginning of your report. The question under conclusions will suffice as your conclusion for your report.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
