Are X-ray examinations safe? What is a "safe" amount of radiation exposure? What about patients who receive multiple examinations using ionizing radiation, such as diagnostic X-rays, CT, and fluoroscopy? Is there any way to keep up with the total amount of patient exposure? How would you compare X-ray photon interactions to the game of billiards on a billiard ball table? Radiographic exposures using a longer SID are gaining popularity. Explain the benefits of using a longer SID for X-ray exposures. What are your responsibilities when using a longer SID?
