How would you compare the various degrees of segregation in the south, north and west during the period of the Civil Rights movement? In what ways was progress slower in the North and West than in the South? Also, thinking about the transition of non-violent protest to armed self defense think about the reasons as to why African Americans would petition armed self defense?
