Homework: Japanese History
The following homework is broken into two questions. Each question answer length must be 2 and a half pages, so the total length will be 5 pages. Format should be in Microsoft Word, double spaced, Times New roman font size 12 and have a bibliography with at least 3 references total. Here are the questions:
i. In what respect is it fair to say that there is an intimacy between Japanese art and nature? Discuss examples and evidences that support this statement.
ii. How would you characterize the power structure of Japan in Muromachi (Ashikaga) period, and on what evidence? How would you describe the cultural style of the period? What important arts emerged during the period?
Specific time periods in Japanese history that may referred to or used as reference may include but not be limited to:
the Jomon period / Yayoi period / Kofun period / Asuka period / Nara period / Heian period / Kamakura period / Muromachi period / Azuchi (Momoyama) period / Tokugawa (Edo) period / Heterodox trends
