• Discuss the EU side of the argument. (1page minimum)

• Answer questions 2, 3, & 4 on page 6 of the case. (1page minimum)

2. How would you characterize the cultures of Europe (France and Germany) and the United States in terms of Hofstede's scheme? In what ways are the cultures similar, and in what ways do they differ? How might the differences influence approaches to disputes like this one?

3. Why would an approach emphasizing "substantial equivalence" result in an outcome different from the outcome of a policy driven by the "precautionary principle"?

4. How might the United States and EU resolve differences such as this in the future?

• Monsanto is a major player in this GMO argument. Find information online about the Monsanto company and the situation (use of GMO's). A good place to look to find more recent information about the Monsanto issue would be in the company's most recent annual report, which can be found online. Discuss the argument from Monsanto's view point, and from the farmers' viewpoints involved in cases against them by Monsanto, using the article I provided, the case, and outside information.

The response must include a reference list. Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
