Problem
You are an employee of the cybersecurity company, the Globex Corporation. This company works to secure networks and protect other companies and organizations from cyber-attacks and threats all across Canada. You are very close with your friend and co-worker, Homer. In fact, it was Homer's recommendation that got you the job in the first place. Homer confides in you that he has been lying on his expense accounts and charging more to the company than is necessary. You know that the company has a policy directly stating that what Homer is doing is not allowed. The policy further states that if you become aware of any such activity occurring, you must report it to your boss. You confront Homer and remind him of this policy and he tells you he does not care about the rules and he only told you about his activities because of his trust in you as his friend. Homer has been having some money troubles at home and needed to charge these accounts to the company in order to be able to feed his family. You know that Homer has already received a warning that he will be fired if there is any future bad behaviour at work. You also know that Homer has a supervisory position that you feel he does not deserve and will likely be given to you if Homer is fired. This position makes more money than your current position and offers better hours and perks. In fact, the hours are so much better that you will have more time to spend with your children and maybe even volunteer for your community. You also know for a fact that you would do a better job in Homer's role than he currently does as your technical knowledge is far superior.
