Assignment Instructions
A. For this discussion, select a topic of persuasion. This can be any hot-topic, or current event; it can be as simple as 'Dogs vs Cats' or as complex as 'Breast-feeding vs Bottle-feeding'. This is completely your choice, so long as you know enough about the issue to present it.
B. Now, chose one of the significant rhetorical approaches/movements discussed in this week's reading. Present your issue, using the approach of your identified rhetorical movement. Think it through: How would the Humanists argue your topic, versus the Rationalists? How would Quintilian approach breast-feeding, versus Cicero's approach?
C. Use specific examples and justify your reasoning. In your peer responses, indicate if your were persuaded by this approach. Why or why not? Is the topic suited for a different rhetorical approach?
