The practice you are about to join as a new FNP will become part of a statewide telehealth system to link community-based clinics throughout the state. Access to specialty care has become very difficult since the areas largest business-the paper mill- closed due to the economic crisis in 2008. Many lost jobs, the community could no longer support specialty care physicians. The clinic will be linked to a large public school's academic health center that is part of a state initiative.
The staff in the practice have worked hard to establish a statewide network of telehealth, knowing that it will make a huge difference in the quality-of-care patients receive. However, there is a lot of work to do related to implementing and effectively using the system. Part of your new FNP role will be paid time to do the background work on this.
As part of your role, you and another new physician will be the liaison team to other clinics and academic health centers statewide. How will your team plan to get all of this off the ground?
